Samuel E. Burns was born in County Antrim, Ireland in 1810, but lived in Louisiana at the beginning of the Texas Revolution. Moving to Texas, he served in the Alamo as a gunner of Captain William R. Carey's artillery company. Burnds died, along with his comrades, in the early morning of March 16, 1836.
