Japanese Tropical Jungle Defense--9 figures (officer & 8 infantrymen) and field embankment

The set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 officer and 8 infantrymen and a field embankment.  The range of weapons included are a Type 97 20mm automatic anti-tank gun with a crew of 2; a Type 89 50mm grenade-launcher; a Type 99 sniper rifle with scope; and the Type 44 6.5mm carbine with the swivel bayonet.

The heads and arms are interchangeable with models and parts in the previous box-sets in this series.

The Type 97 20mm anti-tank gun was obsolete by 1943 for anti-tank combat and was re-deployed to garrison units in the Pacific to serve as anti-personnel heavy weapons as they can cut through jungle defences effectively.

Every Japanese infantry rifle section includes a grenade launcher which has a much longer range than the hand-flung grenade.  The most common issue is the Type 89 50mm launcher which the Americans refers to as the “knee-mortar”.  The assigned soldier has a differently designed harness to carry the bombs around his waist and thus has to be specifically sculpted.

A speciality of jungle combat is the camouflaged sniper.  He is one of the deadliest soldiers on the battlefield.  We have designed his cape with the same foliage with his helmet.

Many of the Japanese southern front units are dressed down for the tropics and wear light shirts with shortened sleeves and canvas tabi shoes.  We have designed them to be second line troops drawn from the technical branches of the army or navy.  For some variety, we have designed them armed with the Type 44 6.5mm semi-automatic carbines with the unique swivel bayonet (designed for cavalry troopers).

Of course, all the above can be swapped with the parts of the other box-sets in the range to increase their weapon choices.

*Some assembly required

*Note: matches up in scale with Toy Soldiers of San Diego and other larger 1/32 scale figures.

Due to be released in MARCH 2021.
