This particular paratrooper is using the ‘Kar 98 Sniper Rifle’. For snipers, this rifle was selected as being exceptionally accurate when fitted with a telescopic sight. Karabiner 98K sniper rifles had an effective range of up to 1,000 metres. During the course of WWII an impressive 132,000 of these special rifles were manufactured. Since that time surviving examples have become much-prized collectables! Our standing sniper can be sighted behind a tree or wall, next to a vehicle or hidden inside a house or up a church or clock tower... you decide!
