The track of a deer trail is usually a narrow, winding path through the woodland or forest. Deer regularly use these trails for migration, foraging, or accessing water sources. The consistent movement and passage of deer in the natural environment creates a discernible pathway to even the most novice hunter. Deer trails may be identifiable due to the absence of vegetation, hoof prints, or other signs of deer activity such as scat or fur snagged along the underbrush. Deer trails can also be an effective, ready-made route through otherwise rough or uneven ground.
