Mercenary Peltasts--Javeliners
The box-set contains 9 model soldiers comprising of 1 officer and 8 javelin-throwers with extra arm options for wielding light spear or sword. The Peltast is armed to engage in shock combat in addition to their skirmishing role.
This set is meant to replace our previous set 60GRK02R which has been out of stock for many months. 60GRK02R will no longer be produced. The models in that set can still be purchased in our white plastic series 60GRK02W.
Four types of pelta-shields are provided in the box-set. Pelta-shield are wicker shields, covered with leather. The oval shield will eventually become very popular and be called the thureo.
Four types of helmets are provided in the box-set. The Pilos-helmet will eventually be the popular helmet in the later period. In our previous set, 60GRK02R, we have provided for only the Pilos and Thracian. In this set, we have expanded to include the petasos and the Chalcidian. Note the Pilos and the Petasos can be in cloth or metal.
